Continuous Extension of lockdown has resulted in a very distraught condition of economically poor section. Loss of jobs and shortage of resources have added woes to their vulnerability. Females are the worst sufferers due to various reasons, non availability of sanitary pads as being one of the causes.
Pinkishe Foundation always stands in the forefront for such underprivileged females. We regularly visit and provide free sanitary pads alongwith menstrual hygiene awareness workshops to poor women and girls under our Padbank program (https://www.pinkishe.org/padbank)
Even during this lockdown phase, our Pinkishe Warriors are serving the underprivileged sector consistently. They are reaching out to needy women and extending help with the support of local administration and our well wishers.
Under one such recent drive, our Assam Branch President Ms Sumita Bandyopadhyay visited Sadar Kamar Basti in Jorhat, Assam on 12th May, 2020. She distributed sanitary pads to 35 needy women there following all social distancing rules. The women were overwhelmed to receive help at these testing times.
Mrs Bondona Dutta (Councillor 51Gram Panchayat) accompanied us in the drive. We wholeheartedly thank her, Sumita Ji and all our contributors who made it possible for us to serve needy at these tough times.
