PINKISHE REJOICES AT AIRTEL DELHI HALF MARATHON‘ CELEBRATES PERIODS

Fun, Masti, Cheers, Pouts, Cheese, Clicks, and what not. That’s what 125 people did for Pinkishe Foundation at Airtel Delhi Half Marathon this year.We danced, we walked, and we won hearts..

We bagged awards too..

But it wasn’t about rejoicing without a cause. It had a great purpose behind it. It had an objective of breaking the seal of age-old myths and taboos surrounding periods.

People usually hesitate to talk about this subject and ignore the repercussions these taboos bring along.

Pinkishe Foundation brought the topic openly to this public platform rather discreetly to make people understand and aware of the fact about how so many women still either fall sick or even die due to negligence and ignorance.

Men, women, and even children gathered at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 5:30 AM sharp, all with a single mission, ‘to celebrate periods.’

To tell the world that it’s normal to bleed and there is no shame in bleeding.

Pinkishe lays stress on hygiene as this aspect can’t be taken for granted during periods. But unfortunately, that is where negligence occurs due to ignorance.

Pinkishe distributes free pads from its padbank to all those needy girls and women who don’t have either funds or shy away to buy them.

At ADHM, Pinkishe carried banners and placards to spread the word about its padbank and the importance of hygiene during periods. Proudly walking with pink safas, special costumes and dhols, we not only spread awareness about this critical issue, but won two awards too.

Pinkishe bagged third prize in costume (group) and stood first in individual category

(costume). Pinkishe aims for a better world for women and girls, and today, it is

proud to announce that over 1.5 lac women have voluntarily joined its mission. There

is a verse in Urdu which stands correct for Arun Gupta, the founder of Pinkishe

Foundation “Main akela hi chala tha janib-e-manzil magar Log saath aate gaye aur

karwaan banta gaya.”
