Free Sanitary Pad Donation & Menstrual Literacy Workshop | Sagar

Menstruation is a natural physiological process that requires proper management. Limited access to information and services about menstruation for young girls decreases their self-confidence and the ability to make informed choices. Even many menstruating women themselves do not know what menstruation is, why does it happens, how it should be explained to an adolescent.

The Pinkishe foundation aims to spread knowledge about the hygienic practices to be maintained during menstruation and influence of socio-demographic factors on menstrual hygienic practices among women of reproductive age-group as well as young girls. On September 6th, Menstrual Hygiene Literacy workshop and Pad donation camp were held at Shasakia Uchchatthar Madhyamik Shala, Rajuaa, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. It was the inaugural event for the Pinkishe Foundation in Sagar. Our facilitator, Mrs. Megha Chadar, had the support of the school’s teaching staff the entire time. About 30 girls of the seventh grade were present. It was explained to them about how periods work and how to practice good menstrual hygiene. Since it was the girls' first instruction on menstruation, they were reluctant to speak up. We hope such kind of workshops will help in breaking silence around menstruation. These girls were provided with reusable cloth pads and were explained their correct usage and disposal.
