Sagar question: To pad or not to pad
A healthy menstrual cycle lasts anywhere from 2-7 days. Generally, bleeding during the first two days of the cycle is the heaviest and requires more frequent pad changes; in most women, bleeding tapers off over the last part of the cycle. Intermittent bleeding is common. When this happens, it can be very confusing. What's more, is how women don't follow proper menstrual hygiene in the last days of the cycle and don't want to throw out a good pad left largely unused. Keeping a pad on for more than 6 hours can lead to serious health issues. When Pinkishe volunteer Ms Megha Chadar conducted a menstrual literacy and pad distribution session - at Tagore Vidya Mandir School, Sneh Nagar, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, on February 16, 2023 - she was approached by Reena with a similar concern. It is important to note that there is no substitute for good menstrual hygiene. However, more often than not the issue here is more than menstrual illiteracy. Women today need more sustainable and pocket-friendly alternatives, so they aren't pushed into risking their lives over something as basic as menstrual products. What efficient menstrual products do you use when your period starts tapering off?
