Even in the digital age, India is still enslaved by superstitions and taboos, which are deeply embedded in our country's rural areas. Village girls lack fundamental knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of their reproductive systems, let alone menstrual education.
On the 24th of April, the Pinkishe Foundation held a Menstrual Literacy workshop and Pad Distribution drive in Mau Khas village, Meerut, to educate women about the reproductive system and the various causes of reproductive problems. Our facilitator, Minakshi Rana, helped the girls with their questions and asked them about their first- period experience.
The session was concluded by distributing free reusable sanitary pads to the women as these are the most sustainable items for ending period poverty. The session was held hoping that one day our country will be free of myths about female reproductive health. Pinkishe is constantly aiming to provide a forum for the female masses to be educated on female health and security.
