Free Sanitary Pad Donation & Menstrual Literacy Workshop | kolkata | 24th July 2022

Periods are an essential and vital part of a woman's life. More than 40% of Indian women between the age of 15 and 24 report not having access to sanitary goods when they are menstruating, according to the National Family Health Survey of India. Most Indian women still cannot afford feminine hygiene products; rather, millions of them live in rural poverty and use rags, sawdust, ashes, and leaves.

The Pinkishe Foundation aims to eradicate such problems by creating awareness among the different sections of the society. The Literacy workshop on menstrual hygiene accompanied by Sanitary pad distribution camp was conducted by our facilitator Binati Singha on the 24 July at Baydon Village, Fahapur Haat,Kaliyaganj Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. The program was well-run and provided details on basic menstrual hygiene and common sanitation practices. Women were also informed of several home remedies for period discomfort that they ought to use when menstruating. They were also encouraged to drop the shame and start talking more openly and honestly about menstruation as it is a normal body process.
