On 30 December 2022, a Menstrual Hygiene Literacy Workshop was organised at Arya
Nagar Inter College, Kashipur, Uttarakhand by Pinkishe Foundation.
During this session, Swati (name-changed), a student, coming from a middle-class family, talked about the negative impact Period Poverty had on her mental health. Buying sanitary pads was an add-on financial burden for her and she had to use toilet paper and fabric or borrow pads from her friends. The shame and stigma associated with menstruation added to her distress.
Our facilitator informed the beneficiaries about the benefits of reusable cotton sanitary pads, the importance of menstrual hygiene, and the sustainable disposal of menstrual waste.
