Pinkishe Foundation organised a Menstrual Hygiene Literacy Session and Pad Distribution camp in collaboration with IPEM college at Ghaziabad,Dhoom Manikpur, GautamBudh Nagar on 20th December 2022.
In this session,Vaishnavi (name changed) a student pursuing B.Ed,expressed her resentment toward the taboo around periods. She revealed that her mother's stigmatisation about menstruation makes it an off-limits topic to discuss with her younger sister. She believes that lack of proper knowledge may lead to a negative experience for her sister as was the case with her classmates and herself.
Our facilitator, Ms.Shalini Gupta, emphasised the need for and ways to de-stigmatize periods in order to promote proper menstrual education among young girls. A nukkad natak was also presented to educate students about hygienic menstrual practices, and sustainable disposal of menstrual waste.
