Presidium School Session 1 Class - 5th and 6th
The Pinkishe Foundation organized a menstrual hygiene literacy workshop for the girls of classes 7th and 8th of Presidium School, Indirapuram, on the 3rd of August. Girls had a lot of questions about period pain and period taboos. Our Facilitator Shalini Gupta answered their queries and gave them the reasoning behind these myths and taboos. One girl, Saisha, wanted to know why periods are kept secret from boys. It is crucial to convey the right message to these girls as whatever knowledge they are absorbing now will remain with them forever. While girls should know about menstruation before they experience it, boys should also be sensitized about it. The Pinkishe Foundation believes that for breaking the taboo around menstruation, it is essential that girls are educated about Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management, and awareness is spread among the youth at the right age. This will help in normalising the process of menstruation.
