On 3rd May, Pinkishe Foundation conducted a Menstrual literacy workshop in association with Girlup Kavach in Shahdara Delhi. Beneficiaries were mainly vegetable vendors or work as housemaids. These women very keenly listened to our facilitator Ms. Shalini Gupta and understood that periods are nothing to be ashamed of. One of the women Gayatri told Ms. Shalini Gupta that they did not know how important periods are in a woman's life and that they never thought that human existence depends on the period. The reason for this ignorance is that nobody ever spoke to them on this taboo subject. How can we expect these mothers to share the right knowledge about periods with their daughters when they themselves are not aware of it.
Women thanked Pinkishe Foundation for sharing such important knowledge about their bodies with them and they promised to pass on this useful information about periods to their daughters.
With these insightful workshops, we hope to normalize periods gradually. Our heartfelt appreciation to girl-up Kavach for doing wonderful work towards Menstrual hygiene awareness.
