Menstrual literacy is a requirement for us, particularly among young women and girls.
The Pinkishe Foundation held a menstrual literacy workshop and pad distribution drive with girls from Madhymik Vidhyalaya, Saini Village in Meerut on April 23, 2022.
Our facilitator, Seema Pawar, was well received by the girls. After a few minutes of the session, their initial hesitancy and shyness faded. Our facilitator explained that menstruation is a universal phenomenon at the heart of mankind, so there is no need to be embarrassed. We gave these girls free sanitary pads and demonstrated their proper use and necessity. The girls' smiling faces at the end of the session indicated that we need to talk more about menstruation and normalise it.
