Menstruation in India has been a part of an extensive taboo system for ages.
Pinkishe Foundation conducted a Menstrual health and hygiene workshop for the young girls of Dhikauli village, Meerut on 20th April.
We all know menstruation is one such topic around which there is a lack of conversation. So to make the girls comfortable our facilitator Minakshi Rana started the session by doing a fun activity with them. After this ice-breaking session, Minakshi told the girls that the process of periods is as natural as the process of breathing. There is nothing to be ashamed of or scared of. It is part of growing up and happens to every woman in the world. It is a sign of a woman being healthy. It was great to see that girls gathered all the information and asked questions and satisfied their curious adolescent minds. Free reusable sanitary pads were distributed in the end and girls were told about their proper usage. Reusable pads are the most sustainable solution to end period poverty.
